## Why we publish the free option

Batu Caves is free to enter and a 30 to 40 minute train ride from KL Sentral for RM 2.60. Most visitors can get there perfectly well on their own, and this site says so plainly.

Then we serve the people that does not apply to: travellers on a tight schedule, families who would rather not work out the KTM with luggage and small children, and anyone who wants the temple explained rather than photographed.

The scope here is narrow on purpose. One limestone hill and its caves, with the current facts, including the ones other sites get wrong. The Dark Cave has been closed since 2019, whatever an RM 35 listing tells you.
